An inchworm is the larval stage of a variety of
species of North American Moths. Their primary
job is to eat...a lot! Female moths lay eggs under
leaves or in the crevices of trees. Eggs hatch and
the inchworm emerges. The next stage is pupa
followed by the adult stage. Interestingly, the
females are wingless and cannot fly. In some
species, only male moths have wings.
Sap beetles are easily identified by the knobs on the end of their antennae.

Spiders belong to the Phylum Arthropoda. This
means that they have an exoskeleton which
they must molt during their lifetime in order to
grow. They also have jointed appendages, an
open circulatory system, a ventral nervous
system, and body segments. Spiders are further
classified into the Class Arachnida. Organisms
in this class possess the following traits: They
have 4 pairs of walking legs, 2 body segments
because the head and thorax are combined into
a cephalothorax, no antennae, 4 pairs of simple
eyes and book lungs for respiration. See if you
can see the silk web emerging from the spider
in the video. Be patient!
